RELATED: Resident Evil: The Scariest And Lamest Monsters

There is a big, literal, character that has been making the rounds on the internet since last year. Who is she, and what are some other notable female heroes and villains from the Resident Evil series? Let’s rank them out to see who is the best of the best or worst of the worst on the villain side of things.

8 Marguerite Baker

Marguerite Baker is one of the villains of Resident Evil 7. She’s the mother of the family, trying to provide her Baker kin with food and love in her own way. Every member of the Baker family is terrifying but Marguerite is somehow more threatening since she looks like a kindly older mother and is instead a horrific monster underneath.

It’s a great juxtaposition for a horror game or even a movie. Her boss fight is one of the creepiest in the game after she turns into a spider-like creature.

7 Sheva Alomar

Sheva Alomar is Chris’ partner in Resident Evil 5. She has not been in the series proper since which is strange considering she is still canonically alive. A series like Resident Evil has tons of characters like Sheva just waiting in the wings to fight evil once again be it zombies, mutants, or whatever.

She makes a decent partner for Chris but also doesn’t have any striking moments to cement herself in the higher echelon of Resident Evil femme fatale badasses. She did have some pretty cool costumes in the game though like her Red Riding Hood inspired attire.

6 Rebecca Chambers

Rebecca Chambers could be considered the first female hero in this series. She became Chris’ partner after he discovered her in the mansion in the first game. Rebecca went to investigate the area first and had her own little adventure before turning up at the Spencer Mansion.

This was later explored in Resident Evil 0 which was a prequel leading right into the first game. She has a cool head and a great knowledge of medicine, making her an important member of any monster-fighting team.

5 Sherry Birkin

Sherry Birkin first appeared as a young girl in Resident Evil 2. She is the daughter of an umbrella scientist, William Birkin, who loses his mind in this game and turns into a horrific monster. Sherry was gone until she made a return in Resident Evil 6 as a playable character. She was partnered with Jake Muller who turned out to be Wesker’s son. It was great to see Sherry return in one of the game’s best campaigns.

It mirrors that of Resident Evil 3 with another monster chasing the party over the course of the adventure. Over the years Sherry trained hard to become an agent on the side of good and it was wonderful to see her evolve. Her appearance in the remake of the second game was also good.

4 Lady Dimitrescu

Lady Dimitrescu was the Internet’s girlfriend even before Resident Evil 8 was properly released. The fandom was so feverous for her that Capcom made her a playable character in the upcoming DLC for the game. She’s a combination of Wolverine from the X-Men as she has long extendable nails and is a vampire.

It was a bit surprising to see her have a smaller role in the game but it was an impactful one to be sure. Capcom is going to milk this celebration of her character into the ground as well as they should.

3 Ada Wong

Ada Wong came onto the scene as a reporter in Resident Evil 2. That’s what she tells Leon and the others at least but she was a spy since the beginning. It’s still hard to get a read on her even after she appeared in countless sequels in this franchise.

Is Ada a good guy working in the shadows for the greater good or has she always been in it for herself? It’s tough to say but one thing is for sure. This independent woman knows how to get the job done.

2 Claire Redfield

Claire Redfield’s story in Resident Evil 2 is an easy one to sympathize with. She returns to her hometown of Raccoon City hoping to find her brother Chris. Along the way, she meets the rookie cop, Leon, and gets wrapped up in Umbrella’s biological nightmare. All she wanted to do was find her brother and zombies were not going to stop her.

She continued the fight into her own game, Code Veronica, wherein the siblings were finally reunited after years apart. Claire also returned in Revelations 2 which was the last playable version of her minus the remake.

1 Jill Valentine

Jill Valentine is the first true main playable female character. Rebecca was an afterthought that turned into a good prequel, but Jill is still the ultimate female hero of the franchise just like Chris is the ultimate male hero. They both started their investigation into Umbrella’s shady dealings together.

Jill might have suffered the most since she was kidnapped and brainwashed by Wesker in Resident Evil 5. That aside, every game she starred in was a banger including the first and third games, the original Revelations, and the remake of Resident Evil 3.
