According to the official listing for the Resident Evil 2 remake on the Microsoft Store, the approximate file size for the game’s Standard Edition on Xbox One will take up about 21.07 GB, while the Deluxe Edition is going to be slightly bigger at 21.14 GB. Of course, it’s worth noting that there’s always a chance these sizes could change between now and the game’s release next year, but it’s a pretty good signal of how much hard drive space will be required to run the title on consoles.
As of writing, it’s unclear as to just how big the Resident Evil 2 remake will be on either PC or PS4, with there currently being no listing for the game’s storage space on Steam, and no indication of the file size on the PlayStation Store. As previously mentioned, though, the Xbox One file size should serve as a decent barometer for the amount of gigabytes that fans should set aside come January.
Taking all of this into consideration, should the Resident Evil 2 remake’s file size remain as what the listing on the Microsoft Store shows, then Capcom ought to be lauded for packing in some incredibly detailed assets into such a small amount of space. And with a recent batch of stunningly detailed screenshots implying there will be a high level of graphical fidelity in the RE2 remake, the survival-horror release is already in the running for one of the best-looking games of 2019.
The Resident Evil 2 remake is set to release on January 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
