Releasing back on January 25th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows, Resident Evil 2’s remake has done something that is difficult for many companies to do nowadays, and it’s something that Capcom should really be applauded for. Zombies are scary again. Not just the special creatures like Lickers or boss characters like William Birkin, but the generic zombies are themselves incredibly dangerous and horrifying.

An RE2 run can go horribly wrong in a second. In a few minutes, you can lose all of your ammo and be on your last leg if you’re not careful. It trains you to watch every corner, keep your head on a swivel, and conserves as much ammunition as possible. But when Mr. X begins stalking you throughout the Raccoon City Police Station, all of that goes right out the window.

As many have seen through their own experiences or watching someone else’s playthrough, the second Mr. X arrives, that fight-or-flight instinct goes off, usually leaning towards the flight option. He stalks Claire and Leon throughout the course of the game, and his intimidating walk alone has mortified players since the game’s release.

Now, imagine having to deal with two of them. That’s what YouTuber BeastGamingHD saw in his Hardcore Difficulty speedrun. Escaping from just one of the T-00 variants is hard enough, as he can manage to corner you in no time. Somehow, this player managed to survive their onslaught and bring them both down to their knees, but I know that I wouldn’t be that lucky.

Mr. X was sent into Raccoon City in order to recover a sample of the G-Virus from Sherry Birkin and eliminate all remaining officers in the Police Department. Had Umbrella sent more than one in during the incident, I have a feeling they would’ve won the day, judging from that footage above.
