Florida Democratic Congresswoman Val Demings said she’s hopeful Trump or his attorneys will participate and formally defend himself in the impeachment inquiry, but Georgia GOP Congressman Doug Collins dismissed that suggestion entirely Sunday morning. As reported by CBS News Saturday, Collins requested more Republican-backed constitutional scholars at the first House Judiciary committee impeachment hearing Wednesday. On Sunday, Collins responded to Fox News anchor Chris Wallace’s inquiry into whether Trump will mount a legitimate defense of his Ukraine dealings by simply writing off the hearings altogether....

Hogan ordered all non-essential businesses in his state to close on Monday, while urging residents to avoid leaving their homes and to practice social distancing to curb the spread of the novel virus. In an interview with CNN on Tuesday morning, the governor said there was a disconnect between what the president was saying and what many local governments have told residents. “They don’t really match, quite frankly. Some of the messaging is pretty confusing and it’s not just that it doesn’t match with what we’re doing here in Maryland, some of the messaging coming out of the [Trump] administration doesn’t match,” Hogan said....

Florida Representative Matt Gaetz on Friday said on Twitter that he and Representatives Jim Jordan of Ohio, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Mike Johnson of Louisiana, and Dan Bishop of North Carolina will ask the FBI questions about the latest Twitter files report. Biggs shared Gaetz’s Tweet and wrote “We’ll leave no stone unturned.” Gaetz said Saturday morning that the bureau needs “serious reshaping” and added that “the FBI is designing what u see so they can control what you think & how u behave....

By acquitting President Donald Trump, despite overwhelming and incontrovertible evidence that he solicited foreign interference in our elections, Republicans have made the attacks that our intelligence community feared all but inevitable. Social distancing guidelines and mitigation practices have been shown to reduce the number of coronavirus cases in the country, but many governors do not believe that they can fully complete their state’s reopening plans until a vaccine is ready for distribution. Republicans are almost three times as likely to refuse vaccination for coronavirus as Democrats. While only 7 percent of Democrats said they would not be vaccinated against the virus, 20 percent of Republicans polled said they would choose not to receive the vaccine....

Now, a new study from MIT and Massachusetts Eye and Ear has found that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, does indeed have the ability to get into the ear and cause infection. What the Study Found The study, which was published in the journal Communications Medicine, examined inner ear tissue from 10 COVID-19 patients with ear symptoms such as hearing loss, balance issues, and ringing in the ears (also known as tinnitus)....
